I opened Glass Firenze Studio because once I discovered glass beadmaking I wanted my whole work life to be about glass… a wise former studio owner said to me that if I want to make beads don’t open a studio but I thought that sounded ridiculous… lol – But after being open for four years I’ve discovered that the business side of glass (especially when you operate everything on your own) takes so much more time than I ever imagined and because of that I’ve never really had the time to work on my own glass art.

I’ve also realized in this time that “life is short” and if you have the opportunity to do what you love you should go for it so I’ve decided to take advantage of the usual slowness of the studio during summer to turn the focus on my glass work so I will not be open for Open Torching until further notice. I say further notice because I have a lot of holiday shows I’d like to work on and this “experiment” may lead into the studio being closed for open torching until after Christmas.

I am going to leave web site work and blog work and newsletters and notices behind and focus on making things out of glass. :-) I will teach an occasional beginning class by taking names of people who are interested and when I have enough to fill a class (4 people) I will schedule a class but I will not be listing class dates and such online. Because of this I am returning to my original class format of a two day class for $175.00 which will be held on weekends. If you have come to the Glass Firenze web site looking to learn how to make glass beads please use the contact form to send me your information so I can add you to the list and I will contact you once I have a full class. :-)

I will also be scheduling the ornaments class I promised last winter and will send a notice once I have that time frame figured out… probably sometime in September. Other than that other class possibilities are on hold. And I will sell supplies for anyone who needs some… just give me a call to schedule an appointment.

To those who are regular open torchers I hope you will forgive me this indulgence and I hope that since everyone is busy with summer it won’t be too big of an inconvenience. To those who are looking to learn about glass beadmaking you will want to keep in mind that I will not be offering a place to practice what you learn for this time frame.

And… wish me luck! Since discovering glass beadmaking I’ve dreamed of doing nothing but playing at my torch and I’m really excited to take this time to play with glass and put the studio business part aside for awhile.

Thank you so much!
Deb :-)
