Sculptural Birds with Kim Fields.... Intermediate Level Two Day Course $565.00 Even if your personal flameworking aspiration do not include making birds "I Highly" recommend participating in this class. Look at the complexity of these birds... color, texture, form and precision and imagine what you will learn!!! Heat control, color combinations, form manipulation, texturing, and stringer control. This class takes Kim's 10+ years of experience and puts it in your hands.
This 2 day class will focus on creating sculptural bird beads using a variety of techniques. Demonstrations will begin with a simple bird form, then a simple bird with a color overlay and moving to more complex forms such as an owl and chickadee and finally a "fantasy" bird of your own design. Techniques will include color mixing and overlays, encasing, assembling canes, precise dot and stringer placement, and subtle use of heat to control form and pattern.

In this class Kim has requested I use Fusion Bead Release as this is the release she has the best success with in crafting birds. We will be using 3/32" mandrels. IF... you would like you may provide your own dipped mandrels with the release you prefer using. If you do bring your own mandrels please let me know so we can keep things separate. If you bring your own dipped mandrels and do not have success with them with these techniques, there will be studio dipped mandrels at your disposal. |
