Well known and loved, and Alaska's very own... Elise Strauss has been an influential member of our lampwork community for over 10 years. Creating the annual Alaska Bead Society's well known and attended "Museum Show" Elise's talent at the torch is matched by her talent in bringing the Alaska Bead Community together.
Long before I met Elise I knew her darling otter and seal beads, one of which I'm a recent proud owner of. Inspired by our amazing Alaskan nature, Elise transforms glass into small windows of life in Alaska.
Teila Hanks of Beastie Beads. Teila makes the most darling little Beasties!! Her Beasties are extremely well made... truly Teila has a masterful understanding of glass and a creative imagination that I admire. I have several of her creations in my collection and it is my hope that Teila will be a teacher at the studio within the coming year! Here are links to her "website"and "eBay listings." I know you'll be happy you added a Beastie to your lampwork collection!
Here is a link to a treasured customer of mine Susan Kaplan's "Kaplan Creations."I think Susan's hands must never be idle as she is always seems to have something new to offer. Susan is a fuser, lampworker and jewelry artist to name a few of her artistic talents. For "Made in Alaska" goodies you must visit "Kaplan Creations."
This is ~Naos~ Glass, the "Spirit" led creative lampwork of Amber Van Meter... you won't believe this but she makes all her beads on a "Hot Head" torch. I believe the talent and patience involved in her method is reflected in the intimate essence of each piece she creates. Amber is my sister, Dorene's, favorite lampwork artist. We call ourselves the Naos Bead Groupies (aka NBG's). lol
