Glass Firenze Lampwork Studio is happy to announce the arrival of lampwork artist Mary Lockwood for a series of in-depth workshops from March 14th to March 17th, 2008!!

Announcement!! There is a student who is interested in giving up their seat in the "Aquarium Class" so if you're interested contact me a.s.a.p. as this class has been full since opening registration and will go quickly!!  

 
Friday March 14, 2008
Sculptural Workshop 4pm to 9pm
$150.00 (seat available)
Add a new dimension to your lampwork beads with a sculptural element.   From frogs to figures, Mary Lockwood will be demonstrating and teaching the techniques that make sculptural work fun and durable.  We'll be focusing on frogs, fish, leaves,  some seasonal/holiday beads and small vessel shapes.  This is a 5 hour intermediate class with lots of coaching and one on one instruction as needed.

Intensive Encasing Workshop 10am to 7pm (1hr. lunch)
$215.00 (seat available)
Join Mary Lockwood for an intensive encasing workshop.  Several methods of encasing soft glass lampwork beads will be taught, along with a special trouble-shooting segment.  From large gather, to around the world with stringers, you are bound to find the encasing method that works best for your beadmaking style.  This class is a wonderful foundation for the florals class being taught the next day and the Aquarium Bead Class on Monday.  This is an 8 hour intermediate class.

Intensive Floral Workshop 10am to 7pm (1hr. lunch)

Mary Lockwood will be here demonstrating and teaching the techniques to make great florals in soft glass.  From complex encased focals to dynamic raised designs, join us for a full day of concentrated garden beads.  Color theory and design will also be covered. Lots of one on one direction.  This is an 8 hour intermediate class.

Intensive Aquarium Workshop 10am to 7pm (1hr. lunch)

In this wonderfully comprehensive Aquarium Bead Workshop, Mary Lockwood will discuss different layering methods for the base including dichroic, silver and mica and the different color reactions and ways to achieve depth.  We will cover the canes involved in making the jellyfish- tentacles, mantles and how to prep the canes for use such as in kelp, sea urchins, starfish, and other sea creatures.  You will also learn how to add fish without pulling murrini!  Special emphasis will be made on maintaining bead shape and balance and 'insurance heat'.  Mary will also demonstrate a beads natural tendencies and how to establish a flowing bead shape.
