"In General" - this is a very important note to note... ;-) lol The Studio is Open for Supply Purchasing and Open Torching on: Thurs. & Fri. 5:00pm to 9:00pm Saturday 1:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday 1:00pm to 6:00pm Click for Complete "Studio Hours" details and requirements. Important Note: All torching customers of Glass Firenze must sign a liability waiver before any instruction or torch time may be scheduled. You may contact me at 726-1080 to schedule an appointment to tour the studio and review the liability waiver or request that I email you the waiver.
You must be 18 or older to rent Torch Time or attend Classes at the studio. With a parent present we welcome instructing children 15 or older but will do so only on a private lesson basis. Once properly trained in lampworking safety and procedures those 15 or older may rent Torch Time if their Parent is present. Experienced lampworkers:
You must have a liability waiver on file, have at least 20 hours of experience on a professional oxygen/propane torch system within the last 6 months and have completed a 1 hour studio safety and torch system session at the regular torch time rate.
If upon observation of your torching abilities I do not feel you have suffcient experience to rent torch time I reserve the right to stop or cancel your session. If this were to occur I have regular Beadmaking 101 classes which you could register for. Inexperienced/Beginning Lampworkers
Torch Time Rental
Torch Time Rental is $9.00 per hour for Soft Glass Torching
Torch Time Rental for Borosilicate Glass is $15.00 per hour. There are many "Incentive" programs at the studio which provide opportunities to participate in torching discounts. This includes: the use of a Mini CC torch run on propane and oxygen or an oxygen concentrator, a kiln to anneal your beads in, and a large selection of tools.
This does not include: Any consumable supplies such as glass, frit, bead release and/or mandrels.
GLASS: You can bring your own glass or use glass from the studio scrap shelf for an additional $2.00 per hour. I also have a large supply of glass for purchase. MANDRELS: You may bring your own dipped mandrels to the studio or you may pay a fee to use studio pre-dipped mandrels. The fees are $2.50 for 10 or less mandrels used, $5.00 for unlimited mandrels per visit. You may also choose to clean a mug of mandrels and receive credit for 4 studio mandrel visits. If you clean one mug of mandrels you will receive credit for four $5.00 mandrels visits, a savings of $20.00 for about an hour of your time dependent on how fast or slow you clean. :-) Cleaning must be done before free mandrel credits are used. Torch time fees also do not include the cleaning of your bead holes. I do remove the beads from the mandrels which are available to be picked up within 24 hours of torching/annealing (unless otherwise indicated by schedule conflicts). And you are welcome to visit the studio during Open Torching Hours to clean your beads with my tools.
